Retail Careers Seminar – 27 September 2007
A Careers and Progression in Retail and Retail Management Seminar was organised by Aimhigher South Yorkshire Vocational Progression Project. The Seminar, on Thursday 27 September 2007, was organised and supported by Skillsmart Retail, the Sector Skills Council for the Retail sector and attracted over 50 delegates from the South Yorkshire region. This was the 8th in the series of careers seminars organised by Aimhigher South Yorkshire.
The seminar was hosted at The Source, Meadowhall, Sheffield. It aimed to provide information to teachers and IAG professionals on education and training routes into the Retail and Retail Management sector. The seminar also promoted opportunities for learners in schools and Further Education colleges to progress into relevant Higher Education courses and careers requiring higher level skills in this area.
The programme featured speakers from backgrounds in retail employment, training and further and higher education. Included were practitioners involved in graduate recruitment in retail from the The Co-operative Group and Marks and Spencer, along with recent graduates and new employees and staff representing training and development interests from the Retail CoVE, and Skillsmart retail.
