Progression Opportunities Fair - April 17 2008
The 2008 Aimhigher Progression Opportunities Fair was staged at the Hallam Hubs on 17th April 2008. This sub-regional event is rapidly becoming an important showcase for progression opportunities for adult and vocational learners in South Yorkshire and the Sheffield City Region. Over 750 people attended during the course of the day's activities.
This year the event was supported by Higher Futures, the South Yorkshire Lifelong Learning Network, and involved both exhibition stands and displays from a wide variety of education and training institutions across the region. The Hubs C Pod was a hive of activity during the whole of the day, show casing the work of students from Doncaster, Sheffield and Rotherham Colleges.
These included dancers from the Doncaster Honours degree who performed both a classical dance piece and a modern streetwise dance routine to the delight of the audience of over two hundred.
Musicians from the Rotherham College Foundation Degree in Performance Arts provided two sets of rock and popular music, which was interspersed with two fashion shows staged with costumes and lingerie produced by students on the Sheffield College Foundation degree in Fashion Design. The stunning outfits were modelled by professional models, arranged and choreographed by GLAM productions a Sheffield based fashion marketing and events management company.
To complement this, street dancers provided non-stop break dance and street dance classes throughout the whole of the day enagaging student visitors in learning spectacular and energetic routines.
