Introduction to Support for Deaf and Hearing Impaired Students in Higher Education

Wednesday, 3 March 2010

17:00 - 19:00

Sheffield Hallam University

Research tells us that students who receive support do better in their HE courses than those who do not.  We also know that students will have the best chance of doing well if they disclose their difficulty on their UCAS form and if their support can be arranged right at the beginning or before the start of their course.

This event will explain the type of support that can be available at university and how to make sure it is in place before their courses begin, regardless of where they intend to study, including Scottish universities.

We hope this knowledge will help students to make more informed choices in their UCAS applications and help them to access support early on in their courses.

The programme for the evening can be downloaded from this site (see below) and will include input from current students who receive support at university.

This event is primarily aimed at prospective HE applicants, their parents, teachers and support staff.

Please note you must book a place on this event as numbers are strictly limited, the contact details are given below.  The deadline for receipt of bookings is Wednesday, 17 February 2010.  We will confirm to all attendees individually.

If you need further information please contact Melissa Collinson on (0114) 225 6126 or e-mail deafserviceteam@shu.ac.uk.
