Student Associates Scheme

Click for more informationThe SAS offers university students a fifteen day work placement in a school or college in London. It is an excellent opportunity for students to get a supported school based placement and explore a future career in teaching.

Schools benefit from the extra support and many of our participating schools have credited the SAS for a rise in attainment levels in both the classroom and concerning exam results.

The University of Westminster SAS works in partnership with a consortium of Higher Education Institutes consisting of the King’s College London, The School of Oriental and African Studies and the Open University.

Students from these institutions will get priority, although we also accept applications from students studying at other institutions.

We offer high quality inductions, training and support to students throughout their time as a Student Associate and support them in their career decisions upon completion.

The scheme has two main aims:

1.      To encourage university students to explore a career in teaching and to contribute to the recruitment of able and committed students to Initial Teacher Training (ITT).

2.      To encourage progression to higher education by raising levels of aspiration and attainment of young people in schools and colleges.
