Care Issues: Briefing Event

The purpose of the conference is to identify and extend good practice, particularly in relation to progression to higher education for children in care and care leavers and to assist you in networking to meet our common objectives.

Time: 1.15pm to 4.45pm (including lunch)

Venue: Room C1.04, University of Westminster, 115 New Cavendish Street, London, W1W 6UW

 

Specifically for professionals supporting LAC students such as: HEI Directors of Student Services, Aimhigher Lead Officers, HEI Counselling & Advice Services, Frank Buttle institutional lead contacts, Virtual Headteachers, LACE Managers, Aimhigher Borough Coordinators, LAC designated teachers from schools/colleges, and FE sector, Aimhigher FE Coordinators and Student Services, Care Leaver IAG providers and designated student support officers and policy makers.

Measurable: See how your good practice can be shared and the input it has on influencing future activities and sustainability within the WECAN Aimhigher Partnership and further afield.

Achievable: Through joining us for a FREE afternoon with lunch. Where you will have the opportunity to network, review the Scoping Exercise, view other national good practice material, hear the practice supporting Policy Presentations and to break out into smaller workshop groups to discuss how best we can all support the progression framework for this cohort of students.

Relevant: At the start of the new WECAN Aimhigher Partnership the Project aims are; To increase Looked After Children's progression to HE. To set up a communication network to optimise the provision of pre-entry for successful transition to HE. To build on and share WECAN practice for a sustainable and extended provision of activities in combination with the WECAN 'Care Issues' Programme.
