Portable Roadshow Guide
Following the success of the national Aimhigher roadshow format, a number of regions have asked for guidance on putting together their own Aimhigher roadshow events, to reach Year 9 pupils anad Year 12 students in schools and colleges that the Aimhigher trailers do not currently have capacity to include in the main roadshow tour.
Although the costs of building, maintaining, staffing and running an Aimhigher trailer are prohibitive, it is possible to put together a timetable of classroom based or ‘portable’ events on a budget.
Delivered by trained student facilitators, the portable roadshow is designed to offer a more flexible and cost-effective option.
The objectives of the portable roadshow are as follows:
- To raise awareness of HE, from the courses available to university life in general
- To offer participants the opportunity to interact with university students and question them about their own experiences of HE
- To raise the aspirations of participants and encourage them to consider university as an option
