The 2009 Aimhigher Awards conference took place on 6th October at the Church House Conference Centre in Westminster, London, where all winners were formally recognised.

The presentation of the awards took place in the Grade II listed Assembly Hall which was designed by Sir Herbert Baker and features a 30 foot glass dome. A drinks reception took place in the Hoare Memorial Hall, which hosted the House of Commons during 1940 – 1945.

The event this year was compered by Mike Baker, the distinguished education journalist and BBC news correspondent. He was joined by Pat McFadden MP, Minister for Business, Innovation and Skills, and John Selby, Director (Education and Participation) at HEFCE.

The organisers would like to thank everyone involved in this year's scheme, and congratulate all those individuals and projects that had been nominated, shortlisted or winning.
