There is so much information out there, for students and parents alike, so we have highlighted just some of the sources of information, alongside which we've also mixed in some of the information guides we produce for students here in the LIFE* area**.

Apprenticeships

Bright Links Trust (with Bright Knowledge)

Creative Steps

As employees, apprentices work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off-the-job, usually on a day release basis, apprentices receive training with a local training provider such as a college.

This is a great resource with a library of links and advice for all manner of topics, including Study Support, Careers, essential Advice for Life, and of course some Light Relief - with inspirational stories!

 

The Creative Steps site is for students considering a future in the Creative Industries. The site is a user-friendly course-database, and bank of information.

 

DirectGov

Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

UCAS

For all public service information from the UK Government. Includes Information and Guidance, Useful Links, Student Life information, Student Finance (SFE applications) and much, much more.

The EMA is available for many students dependant on household income. You will need to visit the site to assess your entitlement for this award.

Payments could be up to £30 per week, with rewards available for achievement and attendance*. You may need to discuss your household income with your Parent/Carer.

UCAS is the UK central organisation through which applications are processed for entry to higher education, providing information and services to prospective students and HE professionals.

The official source of information about Higher Education is DirectGov, the Governments centralised information portal. This website has Impartial Information, Advice and Guidance, as well as the official sources to make applications for student finance, and find out more about HE options, courses, establishments and programmes.
