Aimhigher…Cumbria works in partnership with schools, colleges, universities, employers and the community to help raise the aspirations of people in Cumbria and ensure they reach their full potential.

Most of our work is with the 14-19 age group, but we also work with primary pupils and adults.

As Cumbria is such a large geographical area, there are area leaders based across the county. From 2008-2011, we shall be working with a specific target group of pupils who come from areas of low progression to higher education yet have the potential to succeed at a higher level.

We organise campus visits to various universities and each year we offer summer school places where young people can experience student life first hand when they have to stay away from home in student accommodation and attend lectures. For some young people this may be the first time they have been away from home or have been out of Cumbria.
