Universities want people from a variety of backgrounds, and having A levels is no longer the only way to get in.
There is more than one way to get into university and you can gain entry qualifications in many ways. Some routes involve studying at college or sixth-form college, some involve studying while at work and some routes may involve day-release or part-time study where your employer allows you days off work to study for a qualification at college.
In general, you need to have gained a level 3 qualification, but this is not always necessary if you have a lot of work experience. Level 3 courses include academic A levels, applied A levels, a BTEC National Diploma, an Advanced Apprenticeship, an NVQ level 3, an Advanced Extension Award, an Advanced Diploma or an Access to Higher Education course and any of these qualifications could be used to get you to university or a college of higher education.
