College Life

The atmosphere at college

Round and about the college

You’ll get used to seeing lots of people moving from place to place as they go to various classes. Some people will be by themselves and others will be in groups of friends. The corridors will sometimes be busy and at other times very quiet.

In the cafeterias

The cafeterias will be lively with the clatter of cups and plates and with people chatting.

College cafeterias usually offer reasonably priced nutritious food and act as a meeting point for students from all over the college.

In your classes

The atmosphere during your classes will vary slightly according to the teaching style of your tutor.

You’ll spend some of the time listening and taking notes. You’ll also take part in discussion with your tutor, helping you to express your ideas and share your opinions with your classmates.

Sometimes you’ll be asked to look at facts or go to the library and find a piece of information. You’ll be given regular breaks during your study sessions.
